Java vs Kotlin : Which is better as per industry view?

I want to learn android development , but I was confused to choose between the java and kotlin.
I know kotlin is based on java but I don't know what industries use for Android development.

Kotlin isn't really based on Java. They share the same virtual machine and can work together reasonably well.

Industry view is as meaningless as picking a language you hate for the best job options. Programming will burn you out, if you don't love your language. Pick the language you love and go from there.
