What does it take to become a software tester or software developer?

I'm curious about how many languages I would need to learn in order to become a developer or tester?

No need to learn all languages for software developer or tester. One language is enough for that because mostly companies work only on a single language that maybe anyone. Like I am Software Engineer so I am working on Java only.

But if you know multi language then it's so good. Because sometimes they can change your position means they can say work on other language too.

For some reasons on job boards with many postings they keep advertising multiple languages requirements. I am bit skeptical I think that most of the time they use one stack.

You can check job postings for companies that are hiring for those positions in order to see what employers require or prefer.
