For codes marked "Do not copy" are users allowed to keep private copies of them?

... for example for learning purposes.

I assume so, why else would you post a code in a public learning forum.

What if you look at their code and remember it very well and use some of their ideas in your own projects. would that be cool?

Yes, I think so. Upvote if you agree! Because this is a learning forum, If you make a public copy, no one would bother to see it as they could see it on the real coder’s original copy. You could learn new coding stuff from them, I’ve done this with a lot of codes already. Here is one, it was on the trending page, as I could not send my copy to you I am sending the original one. https://code.sololearn.com/W657V97Gyhbz/?ref=app Also, I don’t remember if it said not to copy, but if you copy, other people start asking why are you copying others’ codes. It feels very.. ummm... bad, you could say. Imagine people asking you such stuff on an online learning and coding browser which anyone on this planet could see. Feels bad, huh..? At least it does to me. So, better not copy codes, even if it is not written that you could not copy. That sentence, I don’t know why... sounds little confusing to me.

legally it depends on the license. normally any one who writes something and is concerned about its use should release it with its license. - morally if someone uses someone else's code, they should credit him/her at least and not claim it as theirs. - if you post something on a community ,it should be with some flexibility, otherwise why bother. so why not use it if you need it 😄

its public forum, as long as you dont use it commercially to make money from their work its okay to take some ideas and parts of the code

I agree with that because that is plagiarism even if it is not marked no copying

Thomas Minnick the question is a to keep the code as private copy, also copyright law works differently in some country. plagiarism is when someone steal and claim it as their own, its different than keeping the private copy for god knows why, a reference probably.

Ace, however, in other copyrighty areas you are breaking laws if you copy the work of another person, even if no one knows - let's say a movie, or a pdf of a book. How to set off the SoloLearn case from that?

I think that if you copy it and keep it for yourself it's fine but reposting It or selling it is illegal in my opinion.

I believe that users are allowed to copy other users work, but I am not certain.
