Why does the Play/Challenge section ask you things you havent learnt?

From the home screen, i clicked on 'play' and started a challenge with someone the same level as me. I thought the game would understand that i'm a low level and would only test me on things i have learnt but every question that came up was completely new to me and was therefore not like a game at all. This question is more of a suggestion, where the challenge section should be based on level type instead of treat everyone the same.

If you challenge a user of higher level, chances are that the questions would range from your level to your opponent's level.

Then perhaps the system deems that you should have learned the specific topic (?).
What were you questioned on? As far as I know, there are limiting factors and questions also have their corresponding tiers. A lv2 against a lv2 would generate questions of the lowest tier.

@Hatsy Rei thats what i would've thought before I began the challenge. I cant remember the questions now though. I'll do another one and have a look. Thanks for your input :)
