Has Java syntax changed much since the mid 90s

Old school quetion... Has Java syntax and formating changed much since the mid 90s.

Root syntax does'nt change, but built-in functions/features ( API ) have hardly evoluate... First versions of Javascript only handle basics calculation and programming structures ( variables, loop, condionnals ), for mainly handle forms ( to do verification on client side, before submiting ), and very progressivly handle / change html content ( starting with just access to image elements attributs, for doing mouse-over effects ).
