Is the 2005 book "JavaTech" still relevant today?

I am a beginning Java programmer and I don't want to learn anything the wrong way. This was the only book on Java they had at my library.

should be ok. use book in conjunction with sololearn. i still use my 2005 c++ book for reference.

As you are a beginner , go through that book to gain knowledge of basics of java.

You can still create stuff using those old books, But you might want to stay updated with the latest stuff.

recently Lambda expressions and a lot more stuff was added to Java.

Once you are done with basics , get to that latest stuff.
