In the first hours of PHP, it was called PHP/FI ( for versions 1 and 2 ), designed for create a template system for a personal use, and standing for Personal Home Page / Form Interpreter ( handling data from form was one main goal ). And in 1997 with the outcoming of PHP3, the accronym is shortened, and it's meaning change for a recursive one: Php Hypertext Preprocessor.
