What is the best way to study/gaining some experience to change the current profession to a tech one?

Please advise me on what I should do step by step if I have decided to switch my current profession? It is not tech-related: so I am studying by myself, I have no related experience and/or diploma, which is an obstacle even to get some mentoring or practice in a company.
