Is it possible for the admins/owners to view the personal chats of students? Please keep in mind that the account was provided to us by the school. We are allowed to change the password, will changing the password help in keeping my chats hidden?

If you are talking about your school administrators, no. Given that the communication between servers are encrypted, the only way they'd be able to access your private chat would be to login to your account using your password, in which case changing your password away from what you were given by default, should help keep you secure. You should assume, however, that the school administrator should also be able to reset that password. It should not happen, but it still isn't a great idea to do anything that might get yourself in trouble.

In addition, MS Teams does not appear to have end-to-end encryption. If we are talking about admins as whoever controls Microsoft's servers involved in the transfer and storage of those messages, then yes, your messages would be accessible by Microsoft's administrators. In this case, your password does not really matter, since access to your account does not matter when they are accessing data stored on their own servers.
