Which is the purpose or the goal should I look for when I start learning data (scrubbing/scrabbing I'm not sure) ?

I got started to learn data science and machine learning in python and I found it interesting
But in the future , I'm gonna learn data scrubbing but I feel confused a little bit about the purpose to learn this thing

Suppose that you are building a project to make some calculations based on certain records, copying and pasting is not a good choice and that's when data scraping (web scraping) comes in, it automates that process and simplifies it, that data can be changing regularly and the results based on this data are changed as well, if you have a good code that scrapes this data well enough, that one time program will be able to give you the results you are expecting.
I believe there are resources on the Internet that can give you a clear explanation about the topic.
