it's a new bug in Sololearn so you have to wait till they fix it

They are trying to fix it .
Two suggestion
1. Try clearing your mobiles cache.
2. delete your older conversation and try messaging him again.

Try:
Log out -> force stop --> clear data --> restart your phone --> Log in back and delete chats and try again to send message
First time i faced, it fixed my issue

Try updating the SL app in the playstore. The latest version is supposed to have fixed this.
