Arrow syntax context

Question

I like Arrow syntax, its easy, I keep passing but I don't really understand it. If I comment out the function code lines, just put in the arrow code, my answer passes but if I then delete those function lines it fails to pass. Why? Also why don't I see the results but have to press control enter.
