Can Python be used for Web Development ?

I know frameworks like Flash and Django can be used for Web. But can pure Python or A Simple Python be used for server side programming !?

So can't tell whether Python can replace it or not

I agree Steven M . I have to Search before I post . But what I meant was, for python to be used for Web , do I have to learn Django/Flask . And it seems Yes .

Namit Jain So , It uses Brython . Nice . It seems to convert python to JS and then Interpret. So Python is used in place of JS . I get it. But what I don't get is ... Can this be used as an alternative to PHP ( i don't know PHP ) as a server side programming language .
