Bala "Programming languages are tools, nothing much" So which languages is better depends upon on how what things/applications you want to build. Example: You need an axe to cut/chope a wood(so, axe is the programming language here and cutting/chopping a wood is the application) Another example, you need a hammer for nailing a nail(so, hammer is the programming language here and nailing a nail is the application) Now coming to programming example. you need java/Kotlin for building an android app. java/Kotlin is the tool here and android app is the application Let's say you want to do machine learning, so now you'll need to select the best tool out of so many like JS, python, R etc... and in my opinion the best tool would be Python. Sometime you'll need to use a combination of different tools just like building a house(saw, hammer, axe etc). for example, for making Websites you'll need different tools like html, JS, css, php, mysql etc. But python is more popular than java currently.

Both. There is a lot of work for java and python developers. Java was a long time leader and still is very popular in enterprise development. There is a lot of code written in Java and it will be relevant for a long time. Python is widely used in Data Science, Machine Learning and Web Development. So, you can't actually loose by picking either of those languages.

If you're thinking you're only going to learn one language and use only it until you retire, you might be right as I know a few people who do exactly that. BUT, I think it's a big mistake to focus exclusively on a certain language, as it will only make you more rigid and develop some weird habits and beliefs. I will argue it's worth to learn at least basics of both.
