I main on Dev C++ 5.11, and recently switched to Visual Studio 2017.
This first thing I look for in an IDE is a night mode / dark theme setting because I code at night as well. Apparently, you need to fight through an abyss filled with fierce dragons and some sht for that in Code Blocks.
If you think Visual Studio Community 2017 is too heavy, you may opt for Visual Studio Code.

I just tried Atom few days ago. There is a plugin/extension for C/C++ but i wasn't successful at compiling a source code with it.
Still, it works really well for an IDE and can really be an eye candy when you apply material design to the UI.

Code::Blocks is like, inferior compared to anything that I've tried. Slow, bad auto-completion, underdog UI design, and so much more problems.

If you use GNU / Linux, I recommend G ++

well. I just named code::block cuz its the one I use and Ive had no problem with it. Plus wherever you search a top 10 of the best IDE for C++ you will find Code::block is always in second place. But I admit Visua studio is way better.

Why to use exactly that tho? Why don't you use the ones that most ppl recommend?
Try for Code::Block.
