display[] arr=new display[3]; This creates an array to hold display objects of length 3. for(int i=0; i < 3;i++) arr[i]=new display(); This loop fills the array with instantiated display objects. The next 3 lines; arr[0].cal(0); arr[1].cal(1); arr[2].cal(2); Calls the cal() method of each of those 3 display objects passing in the corresponding number as an argument. This will effectively set the value of x for each object. Then x is output for each of the display objects.
