how many languages does a person shoukd know to become a developer?

i want to be a developer ....but the question is how many language should i know and in which language should i gain proficiency?

Become professional in Java so you can develop for desktop,web and android, and then you can learn any language easily.

If you are realy good in one language then this is enought. Question here is: What is realy good?
As I mentioned before certified developer is good enought but it is nothing without job practice.
