Why python is not running in linux

Question

I have edited .xinitrc file.
So! Not any GUI loads at start and I get terminal.
I wants to just run PYTHON script at startup but not working.

Content of .xinitrc file
exec python /root/test.py

.xinitrc is file which runs at start of Linux. Before I edited it, it had command to run XFCE desktop environment.

I removed command to run XFCE desktop environment so not any desktop environment runs and I get only terminal.

I Wanted to start a python script at startup of Linux.
So I edited .xinitrc file to run PYTHON instead of Desktop Environment but it is not working. Not any python script is running
