Yes, it is. react or nodejs is not new language. They are extention of JavaScript. Nodejs has release 2009, since then it getting popular at high rate. Javascript, has more bright future then PHP. Within 5 or 8 years maybe nodejs will take over on PHP Empire.

JavaScript can do whatever python and ruby can do. It is object oriented, and because of its frameworks, it will be highly popular in coming years, unless, something better comes up
