How to properly verify a sololearn account?

Question

In short, after downloading the app I logged in with my gmail, got the welcome email and verification badge, but when I tried to message my friend the "you need to verify your account" popup showed up. I do not have any verification email on my gmail (looked in every catalogue) but somehow i have the badge? Does anyone know how to fix this? So far i tried downloading the app, relogging, removing and adding back my email.
