Can JavaScript be used on Things

Question

Actually, while watching a video, I saw a book. With the name “JavaScript on Things”.
Which could probably means that JavaScript could be used as IOT.
But I can't get that book because I'm not sure how that could be possible.
So I'm asking, is it possible?
