see '%' is a modulo sign and it gives remainder as your answer .thus,0.25 is your remainder..not 0.25% ..

Thats the point. When you divide 1.25 with 0.5 you can obtain 0.5 twice getting a total of 1.00. Thats why the 'rest' or remainder, as sushant said, is 0.25.

@yones there are 5 (0.25) in 1.25, but only 2 (0.5) in 1.25 and rest 0.25
