This is a coding platform. Why would sending private messages even matter. And you gotta wait 3 weeks after activation until you can spam.

Slick If I remember correctly, the app tells a new user to activate the account using the account PM or something or that a link'd be sent either via email or in PM, but they don't tell you the site works nearly fully without that, or that you have to wait 21 days.
There are many questions asking about activation because the user thinks they are doing something wrong. SL just need to change their message to clarify what they mean.

Also, when I first started using this site, Tashi or Yeva? not sure, their site guide discussion was sent to me, and nowhere in the main post do I remember PM being a no no. Instead I remember it as being one of the ways with which we could ask questions.

It kind of looked to me like PM's were for when you asked extra questions about your own or somebody else's discussion that could be considered tangential (hard to know what's relevant at first)
I did send PM's myself asking about Big O etc. (A. Jona, S. Sauter, Bob Li, Lothar, apologies) Takes time to learn what not to do.
