The path tag is quite confusing, I'll like to find another way to get the right coordinates rather than guessing, any advice?

you can generate svg code for simple paths using the links below. I'm not sure if posting a bunch of links is against the rules here, but these are just some useful freebies. I would use Inkscape to draw more complex path, though.
