Can Someone help me with my pong game? [solved, thank you!]

Question

I am working on a pong game, just for fun, but for some reason, my code to make the ball bounce off the side is not working, it just passes through the edge of the box. I've tested it and determined it has something to do with the command to alter the variable. In addition, my code to randomly determine if the ball starts by going up or down is not working either. Please help!
