You're the only one who can really answer this question. It's completely up to you.

The best advice I can give is:
- Make sure this is something you enjoy doing. If you enjoy this, it won't be as difficult to stay committed.
- Don't be afraid to fail. Failure is a smaller step forward than anticipated, but it's a step forward. Failure is another way to learn and improve.
- Realize that people who develop these languages and protocols WANT you to be able to learn them. They're not judging you.
- Don't let other developers fool you into thinking that they weren't where you are at some point. We all start somewhere. Some of us just forget where we came from.

If this is something you enjoy, I hope you stick with it. Fear and doubt are always going to be there but we can't let them rule our lives.
