Certificates are just for show, profile padding, personal satisfaction. They don't mean anything outside of Sololearn.

Actually learning something useful at a slower pace should be the goal.

Finishing without really learning is just wasting your time.

Well, finishing fast is at least less time wasted... at least you get that part.

Chris Coder 's advise about taking your time to avoid mistakes a good one. Search for answers outside of Sololearn if you get stuck. Not only do you learn more, you also don't have to waste your hearts.

Plus, knowing how to look for answers, how to read error messages, how to read and understand documentation, etc, are skills that you will be using for a long long time. It's impossible to learn and remember everything.

I use a learning technique I picked up in sketching to improve my learning rate in other areas.

We remember what we learn far more effectively when we invent or create something in the process, rather than simply memorizing a pattern or answer. As you engage in your lessons, try to "invent" the information you're learning based on what you know up to that point. Do this in small increments, though. Just a little at a time, piece by piece. Focus on micro-inventions, not the whole.

As the whole is built you'll see how every small piece fits together. You can iterate through concepts rapidly. You can build complex ideas from tiny concepts holistically tied together. You get to own the information you're learning by convincing your brain you're inventing every piece, and it improves the rate at which you learn as well as boosts memory recall.
