My friend told me to 'Always Use Hard-Tabs When Coding'. Is this true?

this takes me back to Tabs vs. Spaces on Silicon Valley XD [edit] this comment on reddit sums it up pretty well https://www.reddit.com/r/learnprogramming/comments/1998iy/what_is_the_difference_between_soft_tabs_and_hard/

Depends on your preference and settings of your IDE, but this way you make sure you got the indentations right each time. Soft tabs are longer to type and might be prone to mistakes more easily.

It all comes down to preferences. I personally prefer hard-tabs.

it's not a bad practice, but spaces do the same thing.
