yesterday I built a webcrawler. I have made software. lots of things. the question now is what do you want to make? if your just looking for practice, how about making a few of these..

number guessing game
dice simulator
text adventure
convert words to Morse Code
convert RGB value to hexadecimal

[edit] this can be done with other programming language such as java , what special i can do with for which python is designed for.

there is nothing Python can do that other languages can't if that's what your asking.
