As of today, AI is not capable of building applications. AI code assistants can help create an object or identify some code mistakes. It is great for syntax help. But often they do not understand all the libraries and overall design objectives. In the next few years, AI systems will be able to construct full applications. But they will still need to know what precisely to build. You can't say, "Build me an app to manage my airline" as that's broad and nothing will be done correctly. Designers will need to write specifications that meet all the business and creative requirements. The "programmers" will use AI to generate the code and instruct the AI how to fix it or modify it to work out any refinements. There is no doubt that the syntax of coding will change more to AI training and further away from writing lines of code. This isn't a bad thing. It's just a different way to do things. With this evolution, more jobs will be created for people who understand programming and understand how to train AI to get the programs you need. I still encourage people to learn programming but also learn how to train AI. A trained AI model will know your business structure and will know your database architecture. But AI will never know what you want in advance of you telling it. I use AI for code assistance now and it feels more like it generates template code. I can give precise requirements and it still gets a lot of things wrong. AI simply cannot read your mind. In time it will know more about your industry and with training will know more about your company. But it will need a lot of guidance, aka training. Master the art of getting AI to write code for you. That's the future. Right now it's out of reach. But soon it will be a beautiful thing. Modern applications are far too complicated for AI to "just do". Prepare to be the programmer between the manager and the AI.

Oh, and since you asked about IT in general. Most database administration tasks or PC support tasks will be aided by AI. But remember, AI cannot turn a screwdriver. It will also be many years before people want AI to have authority to make risky changes to infrastructure. AI will assist, not replace, for a long time to come. You need the skills to be able to review AI suggestions and implement those suggestions manually. Outside of IT, AI will assist and replace other jobs as well. AI will be used to assist doctors, mechanics, or any skilled job. A great career will be the guy that can use AI to support non-IT industries in ways nobody is thinking about yet. Imagine a mechanic wearing a headset camera and AI recognizing the car, all the parts and part numbers in the car, reading the car computer, and assisting the mechanic to instantly diagnose and order parts while his head is still under the hood of the car. The mechanic spends less time at a computer and more time at the car. Everybody wins.

Neal Ezekeil A. Calda /*/Ayag AI can't replace the jobs but surely the way the jobs will be done will be different. It will help to do work in less time compared to actual time without AI. It will create a huge impact in overall work to accomplish in a better manner and focus on important tasks which require human thinking and reasoning.
