How relevant are the new domains like .law, .cloud etc compared to the old .com sites

To provide for the increasing demand for websites domains many new domain extensions are made available like .dog, .law etc but do they have the same charm when compared to .com . & how famous will they get in future.

.com is classic, of course, but there are some domain ext that can help a small business. Let's say you specialize in something in NYC, you can get (whatever type of business you do).nyc Could help get you traffic. Taco Bell has ta.co...that's a gimmicky thing but it's an example of a different ext.

According to w3techs ( https://w3techs.com/technologies/overview/top_level_domain/all ), their relative use compared to that of .com is nearly neglectable: 47% of websites are .com, while these new domains are used in at most 0.1% of cases.
