Learn by heart Java language? Good or bad?

I'm an absolute beginner and just have learned 5 lessons of Java Fundamental. Feel pretty interested lesson by lesson, but mostly I just guess and learn by heart the coding parts. Is it a correct learning method? Do I need to understand its root and core at this step?

Try to understand the basic concepts of the language, then the things which you have to learn around the concepts are much easier to remember .

There is no need to learn it like that. Codes arent meant to be learnt like that. Understand the concept. Try out your own codes. You'll find it easy in no time

I don't think anyone (especially for the beginners) can learn programming well merely by memorise the codes and commands. Programmers need to practice more on writing code in order to be proficient.
