Well, Python was just starting to gain popularity 5+ years ago when I got sick, which means it's been gaining momentum for a while now. The support has only gotten better, and I'll finding quite a few instances of it being embraced in several scientific fields....

I'd say that it's got a pretty good run left in it, you're not betting on a long shot with it.
