Can SQL replace MS excel?

I'm thinking if all MS excel function can be replicated on SQL

SQL is ANSI standard. so you can access it through web or install a database like Oracle, MS SQL Server or IBM DB2.

SQL can replicate all features than MS Excel and much more. SQL is more like MS Access.

vlookup and hlookup are similar working with 2 different tables in SQL

SQL based applications allows you to handle much larger datasets than excel. Each has its own unique strengths. Excel is more flexible and powerful for presentation and formatting for example. All depends on what you are trying to achieve.

I see, thanks for the help... but i think i should know both, at least to a reasonable lv before and major on SQL.. i feel MS Excel is more recognised here

SQL is a language which is used to work around data. There are many database tools available in market like MySQL, Toad etc which are applications that enable the use of SQL language.
