Ruby on Rails is one of the best frameworks out there, php instead is something I wouldn't recommend. Rails easily allows you to make RESTful and DRY web applications, and the community is great, so I suggest it as number 1.

Anything you want? I personally suggest Ruby (and Rails), Python (and Django), or JavaScript (with Node & Express).

PHP | Java | C# | Python | Ruby. Chose one. Owh... and Javascript (Node.js) but it's not covered at least at sololearn. There's nearly nothing about web-specific usage of Java, C# or Python here too. :-( And there are nothing about OOP in PHP too. :-((( Ruby may be ok (haven't finished this course... and not sure if I would try), but it's not so popular as PHP for example.

PHP however has the most huge and powerfull community of web-developers! And have you ever found other server scripting language that has so many frameworks, each has it's own site - well documented!!! Yii2, Laravel, Symfony2, CakePHP, ZendFramework, CodeIgniter etc.... In this case Ruby is an outsider, python has Django and Flask - are the most popular! But the future is for PHP and node.js. It's everywhere! In Russia php-developers who know one or more frameworks are highly demanded(Symfony2/Laravel are the most popular) and each year the demand only grows! Today are highly demanded frontend-devs acquainted with React/Redux library and familiar with node.js on backend. In an ideal fullstack:-)))

@Valery Is it hard to make a backend for a website using PHP? Is it explained in SoloLearn PHP course?

@Илья Карпенко UA No, sololearn course is not really enough to be ready to make functional back-end. (But it's nice intro anyway)
