Read that the taurine doesn't take any effect... It's just a big expensive marketing scam.

@Tashi, some studies in favor of taurine as a mental stimulant are considered controversial but most are not. I found out that it usually works for me, even though I don't drink it regularly.

I agree about the taste of some. There is a brand that tastes like 100x concentrated bubble gum. Too sugary for me.

Coffee has very little effect on me. A quick cold shower boosts you. Also, strong tea helps me! I haven't tried energy drinks, so can't tell

Do not drink it. Never. Taurine just cheating your brain about concentration of milk acid –the product of bodies energy using. The milk acid concentration is not reduced by drinking taurine, more from that, milk acid concentration to increase, to the level above your normal concentration of this acid. It is just dangerous for your health. If you want to improve your menthal ability, go to fitness – it is more effective and safety.

Don't know why but the road to success for programmers and software engineering come from the individuals propensity and tendancy to drink high sugar drinks also containing lots of caffeine stemming from there youth. Judging by the amount of energy drinks sold in the UK and the demographic of the people buying them the UK is not likely to have a shortfall in the number of potential computer programmers
