what is the use of alt="" />?

The purpose of the alt tag is to show text incase your image cant be read or loaded by the browser.

it's just a kind of additional information we r providing....

ex :in img tag ....alt attribute..if img is not loaded our txt in alt is displayed

like..
<img src="a.jpg" alt="sry buddy pic not loaded" />
