b4 learn coding learn typing

Question

I think if we type right and fast is more ease to learn code. Our brain and our eyes should "look" at the code on the screen not where the q or } is....
One hour per day b4 start coding....and when type the code use all fingers just like you learned on typing.com

I was ultimatum'd into typing classes. Perfectly happy with pointer fingers, ferociously independent​...I remember resenting the class (+ maybe the leverage that got me there).

Out, periphery keys stayed 'no fun' -- fumbling, looking, crossing to use the wrong fingers, I probably had higher skills fixing typos.

I finally (or only) learned to type for real on a split keyboard...had to split my hands and use the center gap like the bumps on F + J. Reach with the wrong hand and strike plastic...totally disruptive.

Learning was really annoying. I'm sure I didn't like it. But it has helped. And if I jest, it's because I kindof wonder if @VH would flip it around and school people on 'terse, only faster'.

That's what my father used to tell me before I became a programmer.... I couldn't type fast even after a lot of practice.... Eventually he said : "....Then you're worthless and will never become a programmer!!...."

.... And look what I've achieved!!......
No need for typing-speed.....
Slow typers have more time to think before they type and are usually the best programmers....

(this took me ~4 minutes to write ....... ^_^)

@Didi I'm fine with the letters but the symbols are a pain, and when you have let's say an italian keyboard and win keeps resetting your regional settings when opening a new window????
A good tip, but it will take time until you type looking at the screen. I'd say you learn both at the same time:
practice typing and learn coding.

@ValentinHacker ... I think it would therefore be hilarious if you wrote a (potentially minimalist) typing game.

guys believe me I have about 10 hours of type practice and I have very good results
I don't type fast but I typing without look at the keyboard

I really don't think fast typing speed is really necessary for coding. Most of the time spent developing software consists of thinking rather than coding, so time saved is marginal.

Although it does help when querying the Internet for help/solutions though and Touch typing is always a nice skill to have, especially if you have typing intensive jobs.

Regardless, its not something you should worry about though :)
