Most things You should know about coding does not need graphical interface. And this app is about learning. If you wanna learn Gui I remommend to start with javafx and there are good tuts directly on oracle site or in netbeans comunity. For older swing there are also buch of stuff on web.

@zdena Being able to create something more appealing than a wonky command line calculator, specially in the beginning, is a big motivation to keep many people (including me) going on learning. The advantages of command line programs will become evident soon enough anyway. Give a child (beginner) to chose between a colorful shitty plastic toy(GUI) and a hand crafted, non-toxic wooden toy (terminal output prgram). the child will go for the plastic until he will realize the value of the wooden toy. Force him with the wooden toy and he will always be looking at other children playing with colorful plastic toys not realizing how valuable is what he already has.
