Preferences: Which are the better font families to use in a web?

The better fonts tend to be the sans serif ones, because it has better readability on digital stuff (monitors and tablets), in other words sans serif fonts don't make the user "tired" to read. Serif fonts are better in non digital stuff (books, papers...) because the "serif" helps the reader to maintain his eyes on the same line. Of course though, you can still use any font on different medias, just don't overdo it, for example do not use italic for a full text, but only in important words or titles.
