- Programmers are shy, awkward, unsociable, and reclusive. (I'm shocked how many extrovert programmers I've met, actually! How do they do it??? D:) By extension: Programmers have no love lives.
- Women don't belong in IT. (Yeah, right, we pioneered the field! :D)
- All programmers understand the physical workings of computers, servers, networks, and other devices. Also, by extension: Programming, network management, hacking in any form, hardware development/repair, and other tech fields are one and the same.
- All programmers know how to hack computers/devices and mod games. By extension: Programmers are either better at games because they understand how they work, or will hack the game and cheat to beat you.
- Programming is easy. "Just type some stuff and make it work!"
- Programming is complicated. "You must be some kinda genius to understand this stuff!" (No, no you don't lol)

Well,there are many👍
That programming is about typing "magical codes" into a computer, which it "understands." This is basically how programming is represented in movies.🎎
In reality, the activity of programming lies somewhere between math and architecture. The programmer develops a set of interlocking conceptual structures and writes a specification using a language that is half-way between math and English. Words from English are used to represent the concepts, and math symbols are used to represent how the concepts interconnect. The computer then takes the design specification and blindly turns it into a sequence of logic and data transfer steps that make meaningful things happen in the world and on the screen.🎮
As a programmer you are considered to be some sort of superhero. In effect you are expected to fix the PC, format it, be a Net wizard. Tried telling people that hardware, software, networking are different areas, and even software has dime a dozen specializations, gave it up.

A lot of people, especially the "not computer person" type, assume that malicious hackers are all geniuses who can exploit any security weakness and break into any computer. Truth is, most of them are just really good at downloading LOIC or similar tools.
