My Ideapad 100s has only 2GB RAM with a 32GB eMMC storage. I have VS2017 and IntelliJ installed on it. It may take some time to boot the IDEs, but doesn't affect much at learning stuff. Activities mentioned in @Krishna's post can certainly be done (I can even play CS 1.6 on it lol)
As has been pointed out, it is enough.

Hi,
Regards @Sonal Agrawal, hope you are fine. Any laptop can do programing. What you refer to as 2GB I want to assume it to be the RAM. That is pretty good enough to help you do pretty good stuff in programming. But the speed with be slow and other programs like Java will really slow your comp down.
Another thing, you probably will have your computer hanging many a times. And android studio will require at least 4GB of your RAM to run.
So the best solution is that you plan to a buy another laptop probably 8GB RAM if you want to run android studio.
Next time try a better processor other than "Intel Pentium". Go for a core !5 or core !7 with a better generation. Make sure you check on the speed. Don't go for anything less than 2.4 Hz.
Disclaimer:
Additional specs mentioned only applies to better usage when working with Android Studio. For Web just continue with what you have.
Hope that helps.

Maybe you could try a lighter distribution, but it should be enough until you use heavy IDEs.
Linux Mint might be a better choice in terms of usability and heaviness. ;)

2GB is okay for programming. but the question is will you be just doing programming? how about using the web browser while learning, researching, coding. if possible upgrade your memory to 4GB depending on your use case you will benefit from that & your Machine will keep more stuff in ram.

Welcome bro. I was feeling the same way last week. Until my morale to learn was boosted more so by @A.L The Flames. If you feel down just look for support. This community is great.
Just in 13 days am where I am. Keep learning.

Easily. You can program with significantly less.

If you're going to down vote me, at least post a reply to elaborate how I'm wrong in your eyes. 2GB is more than enough to do general programming on, and yes, you can do it with significantly less. As for the other questions, they weren't originally there, so that can't be helped.

I guess around 4GB RAM will be better for programming as some of the programming software is quite heavy and requires more ram to work smoothly. It is better to have 4 GB RAM or more for programming work. However RAM cant solve all the problems, there are software issues too which you can look at the link below to find best solutions.

2GB of RAM is the minimum system requirement for the 64-bit version of Windows 10. You might get away with less, but the chances are that it's going to make you yell a lot of bad works at your system! for more info related to ram or laptop with us on https://www.hptechsupportnumbers.com/

Alteast 4 GB or above RAM whill perform better for programming. Some of the IDE are heavy and require a lot of resources work properly, hence, for overall smooth user experience on your computer atleast use 4GB of RAM

Recommended RAM for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 is 4GB. 2GB is the requirement for the aforementioned OS's. You should upgrade the RAM ( 2 GB cost me around 1500 INR ) to use the latest OS, Windows 10. And yes, with the current configuration your system would become slow eventually after upgrade to windows 10.

2 GB RAM is enough for basic programming. But the main thing is choosing your RAM as per your software requirements. If you are going for Android development then you need 4 GB RAM minimum. So it totally depends on the requirements. By the way, nowadays many people right now facing some problem with iTunes if anyone has a problem regarding iTunes then I suggest them to go through https://itunessupport.org/blog/why-cant-install-itunes-on-windows-10/ for the best solution.

Yeah, 2GB ram is enough for programming but it is necessary for your windows to work properly if you are using Windows PC. But, nowadays I have been facing the new error on the Windows that is Windows Activation Error Code 0x80072F8F but somehow I have managed to fix the error through this Website https://msofficetechnicalsupportnumbers.com/blog/fix-windows-activation-error-code-0x80072f8f/. If you want to fix the error than I would suggest you go through this Website.

It depends on what sort of programming you are talking about, but many computers can support programming on 2 GB of RAM. ... Some people suggest a minimum of 8 GB of RAM; however, if your computer is running a 32-bit operating system then the maximum RAM is limited to 4 GB.
