C# vs java which one is easier and more productive. .?

I'd rather learn C# just because it is newer, and because it is a Microsoft language, but either one is fine.

I'm finding Java easier to learn than C#. Java also seems to be much more versatile, although I'm really interested in using C# with Visual Studio/Xamarin for making apps...
