[URGENTS!! ] What if your parents or relative are against you being a programmer?

I think you should try showing them different jobs in the area for programming and show them a bit more of what a little bit of coding is for, don't talk their ear off or anything, just try and get your point across. You also said you got your mom to agree right? So then you could ask her to help persuade your dad, also. Maybe then he'll agree. also be sure to show them any progress you are making along the way, if they are at all rational and loving, they should begin to agree with and support you in time.

My mum hates me spending q lot of time on Sololearn ;-; they want me to do Math and Science only ;-;

tell your parents that programmers have secure future and they "earn" a lot (usually parents are type who want their kids to earn lots)

There is another way: my parents are happy about my profession, but they think that with "programming" I can repair a conditioner or audio in a car and etc. And they are always offended, when I can't do this, and think, that I did nothing in the university :(

I think, the only way to solve both problems (good and bad attitude to programing) is to make a presentation for the whole family about IT in our life :D

I really dunno the advice to this question.....

Anyway programmer is the unrespect/ less respect occupation. in another word "no one respect programmer".....

What your parents did is Half wrong and half correct....

My parents want me to be a doctor and my Bio mark last sem was 9 marks above passing (50%)

I am just one year into programming.
Next year there is trainings in my scholl fot Informatics Olympiads. My CS is pretty good so I might get in.
