I guess you mean an IDE , BlueJ is quite popular but you can also use others like Eclipse or IntelliJ

so far i have used - notepad++,sublime, atom, eclipse, netbeans, intellij. if you are a beginner then i would suggest using notepad++ as it is simple and can help you learn how to run program from command line. You can try sublime as well. now if you are making some project then using an IDE would be better as it automates the task of compiling and running your program. so far from my experience netbeans is slow, eclipse is nice you can use it, intellij is awesome. Atom is also nice as it is hackable in a sense that you can modify it but at the end it's not an IDE. after using all these i prefer intellij as my IDE and notepad++/sublime as my text editor.
