How to get the people more involved in the area

I need advice people.. My thoughts run along the lines of teaching children to code, educating parents, after school programs, maybe some fundraisers to bring technology to this dying city of Detroit. I don't know where to start. I'm a nobody but I'm still willing to jump in and be the front line if only I knew where to start.. I mean what, do I start calling schools? The PTA? The board? What would I say? And if they say yes, what then?

My first boss retired back in the 90's. He went to the local school to talk with the principal. They had him tutored kids in math and computers. I suggest you talk to your local school. With all the budget cuts, they are in need of lots of free support and will gladly talk with you. Bounce ideas together and you should find something doable.
