Hi, Is it neccessary to learn C or C++ to learn Java? I am a mechanical engineer and would like to write codes for subroutines. please suggest pre-requisites to learn Java.

You do not need to learn any other language prior to learning Java. Knowledge of other languages might help, but is not a requirement.

C or C++ has similar syntac with Java, but you can learn Java without learn C, C++, or other programming language before.
