What function should be use in Jquery to stretch a navbar on hovering ?

Basically,I want to stretch social media buttons in my website.I want it to stretch to the left when hovered .Kindly suggest me the function ??

You can create two classes in css, one could br .menu-on, other could be .menu-off,
then select your navbar with the jquery, add the event listener and change its class on hover.

but if i could suggest, you should try to think as "mobile-first", because important behaviors with hover compromise your project in mobiles because it wont work the same
