For me, I'm not a CS student but programming is one of the core areas of study for my degree (studying language applications in HK uni) and I remember my first IT course for programming is HTML+ CSS + JavaScript. All basic stuff in one course. Then, we learned Python and now are learning Java. JavaScript and Python look easier for me if you're interested in programming but if you just want to try to create a website from scratch, then just HTML and perhaps CSS? 🤔 Web: 1. HTML 2. CSS Programing: 1. JavaScript 2. Python 3. Java etc. (1️⃣ = easiest) I've checked your profile. You've started learning everything but just little for each. I think it's not a good way to go. Personally, I focus on one language at a time. After mastering the basics in one language, then start next. Like I'm learning Java now and almost finish it. (But I don't know why they gave me the "complete a course" badge after I won a number of challenges). My plan is to revise what I've learned before next (i.e. HTML & Python) before starting a new language like C++. For my degree, Java is the last one I need to learn. But since I've developed my interest in programming from my IT courses, I'm gonna learn more.

https://www.sololearn.com/Courses/ ^Where/how you start. Let me ask you this, what is your long term goals? Do you want to focus on web technologies or do you want to focus on application development or both? That'll make deciding where to start a lot easier. For myself, I prefer application and game development, so these days I stick with Java and C# for those purposes. However, I've had to create intranet websites for the company I work with, so I've learned a lot of the web technologies because of that. Possible routes: Web: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, SQL, NodeJS, React, Angular, etc.. App: Java, C#, C++, Python, etc....
