Programming START & GOALS

Question

When all of you more experienced folk started with your learning did you all have exact goals where you going to end and what will you do in future? Or, you went with the flow, started on some road and finished on another or another? :)

I found SoloLearn because I was always interested in code and how they work I also wanted to be a Game Dev and Programming Engineer ,when I saw how much work you needed to put in I wasn't sure what to do but I pushed on and I'm here for today, I still have a lot of work to do but I would have never found something I liked so much if I just gave up but when I started SoloLearn or coding in general I was practicing C++ but I got interested in HTML or web dev after a month or so of practicing C++ off SoloLearn
